Event Description
After nearly 50 years and 19 albums, Tower of Power remains an iconic band whose live shows are a thrilling reminder of what great music is all about. Proud purveyors of what they call “urban soul music,” Tower of Power is probably best known for its muscular and hard-hitting horn section – industry legends who have famously backed up everyone from Elton John and Santana to Little Feat and Rod Stewart. A 10-piece band that cranks out some of the hottest licks in the business, Tower of Power have reinvented themselves over the decades, always staying musically relevant. With original members Emilio Castillo tenor saxophone and Stephen Kupkaa baritone saxophone, their current lineup features new lead vocalist Ray Greene, who can wail out a barrelful of soul.
Opening act: Jesse Roper
It’s easy to hear echoes of Stevie Ray Vaughan when Metchosin born Jesse Roper plugs in his guitar and lets loose with stinging blues-rock licks and powerfully raw vocals. The hardtouring Roper now has a national audience for his irresistible blend of blues-based rock, soul, and country. The release party in January for his second album, Red Bird, sold-out immediately. The charismatic and energetic Roper is also one of Canada’s most exciting live performers. Take this chance to see him in a solo performance.
